Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Resort and Spa Celebrates 15 Years in Bonita Springs with Ribbon Cutting, Estero High School Marching Band

Our Bonita Springs Hotel Celebrates 15th Anniversary

Bonita Springs, FL (September 22, 2016) – Surrounded by resort guests, Hyatt associates, community leaders and the Estero High School Marching Band, the general manager of the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Resort, Brian Kramer, cut a commemorative orange ribbon Wednesday, marking the 15th anniversary of the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Resort in Bonita Springs, FL. The celebration included a cake shaped like the resort, champagne, a speech by Kramer, and entertainment by the Estero High School Marching Band, which helped the resort open shortly after the 9-11 attacks in 2001.

“The Hyatt Regency Coconut Point opened for business in a very tumultuous time in our history. It was shortly following the aftermath of 9/11 that we welcomed our very first guests. The tourism industry was reeling and occupancy was at its lowest levels nationwide, as virtually all travel had stopped… We were fortunate enough to have a great location and one of our first groups was a full hotel buyout by the US Military. This kept us afloat in the very difficult first few months of a new hotel opening,” said Kramer.

“From wedding proposals to wedding ceremonies to Bar mitzvahs, bat mitzvahs, Sweet 16’s, proms and family reunions, to those special stories of families who enjoyed their last vacation with loved ones before there passing,  the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point has been an integral part of many people’s lives,” Kramer said.

“Our employees are the heart and soul of our operation.  Today we currently employ 524 team members all of which are very special to me. Over the years some have come and gone.  Many have been promoted to other Hyatt hotels all across the world,” he continued.

On being an active community steward, Kramer said, “We also understand the importance of our local community.  Over the last 15 years we have tried to give back in ways that help benefit us all and especially those in need. We have partnered with many charitable organizations through our 15 years from Habitat for Humanity to the Heights Foundation to the Humane Society and many, many more. This past year, through Habitat, I had the opportunity to hand over the keys to one of the 2 houses we sponsored to the new homeowners. They were a young husband and wife just starting their lives together and he was bound to a wheelchair. The home was fitted with custom ADA features to make his life a little easier.  It was a very powerful and moving experience for me and it reinforced why it is important to be a good corporate sponsor. Besides the financial commitment, we also have an unbelievable amount of selfless individuals who have contributed thousands of hours of community service.  Giving back has always been a pillar that we stand for, and will continue for many years to come.”

Kramer concluded by saying, “This building has had a unbelievable first 15 years and it is poised to have many more years to come as it heads towards becoming the Grand Dame of Southwest Florida. I am honored to have the opportunity to work with the tremendous team here at the resort and to be a part of making memories. I said it earlier and I believe it with my heart, there is magic in these walls.”
